Lemon Bread Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine -- creamed
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 3 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup almonds -- chopped
- 2 lemon rind -- grated
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 lemons -- squeezed
- 4 egg whites -- beaten stiff
Directions
Cream margarine and sugar together. Add egg yolks and milk alternately with the flour and other dry ingredients. To this batter add nuts and grated rind from the two lemons. Fold in the stiff egg whites. Fill 4 8x4 loaf pans Bake at 350 for 50-60- minute, checking with a knife (comes clean) for doneness. Pour or brush 1/2 cup powdered sugar and the juice of the two lemons (mixed) over the loafs. Let stand 1 hour before removing from pans.
Note: can add a 1/3 cup of bran to this recipe, if desired.
